What You Need To Know

Dental implants are strong and designed to last, regardless of if you are getting one artificial tooth, or multiple teeth. If you’re considering this option, here’s what you need to know:

Implants are made from pure titanium and there are three types of general dental implants.

Endosteal implants are the most common type and the safest and consist of placeholder posts shaped like screws that are put into the jaw. Once this heals, the false teeth are then fitted onto these screws.

Subperiosteal implants are a good alternative if you don’t like the thought of screws in your jawbone. These rest on top of the bone, but still under the gum, with a metal frame under the gum and posts attached. As the gum heals, it holds the frame in place.

Zygomatic implants are the third type and the least common. This is a complex dental implant surgery that sees the implants placed in the patient’s cheekbone, rather than in the jaw. This dental implant procedure is only completed if there isn’t enough jawbone for the endosteal implant.

Prior to the procedure, you will consult with the treating dentist who will discuss at length all of your options, your medical and dental history will be assessed to ensure you are an ideal candidate for implant surgery. The dentist will most likely request that you have some scans done to assess bone levels, suitability and subsequently to allow them to plan the optimal placement of your implants. Once the consulting and planning is complete we will book you in for your Implant/s to be placed, The procedure itself is typically uneventful, takes around one or two hours and in most cases patients can go back to a relatively normal routine including driving and working, the team will advise you of any specific instructions if any.

Your recovery may depends on a few things, including:

  • Your dental history
  • Your medical history
  • The condition of your jaw bone
  • How many implants you had replaced
  • If you needed bone grafting
  • If gum grafting was required

Our team have been performing dental implant procedures for many years. With our level of experience and expertise, it is extremely safe. There are a few side effects that may commonly occur, such as minor bleeding and minor swelling. Some less common side effects includes infection, injury or damage to your blood vessels or other teeth during the procedure, nerve damage, and potential sinus problems. All risk factors will be discussed with you during the planning process and we encourage any questions you may have.

Implants also have one of the highest success rates of any dental procedure – between 95% and 98%. They can help to prevent bone loss, replacing the roots of the missing teeth so that your jawbone remains stimulated and doesn’t deteriorate any further. They also make it easier for you to eat – you can enjoy crunchy foods that you might not be able to eat without them.

Another benefit is the cost – although they can be expensive up-front, they don’t typically require replacement or anymore general maintenance than your regular teeth do. Other options, such as bridges and dentures need a lot of extra attention and maintenance to keep them looking great.

If you want to have dental implants, there are a few factors our professionals at Aesthetic Dental and Denture Clinic will take into consideration. Firstly, you need to have enough depth and height in your jaw bone to successfully support an implant. Your dentist will also want to know about your medical history to determine if you’re a good candidate, so make sure you book a consultation.

Dental implants vary in price and it generally depends on how many teeth you need to have replaced and whether other services are also required, such as bone grafting or a sinus lift. A straightforward implant that doesn’t require major surgery could cost anywhere from $3,000 to $6,000, while if you do require further surgery, it can cost in excess of $10,000.

If you’re after dental implants in Sydney, it’s best that you talk to our professional team to discuss your requirements and we can provide you with a quote. Keep in mind that we offer a range of payment plans that are designed to suit your budget.

State of the art technology and skills and ability to match. I went to the clinic highly anxious ( my previous dental encounter at another clinic resulted in a panic attack and blacking out twice whilst in the chair) due to the poor integrity of my teeth, as a direct result of a health condition I had lost the majority of my teeth and the remaining were nothing short of a train wreck. Elias treated me the utmost respect and kindness. Read more

Dental implants are replacement tooth roots that are surgically put into the jawbone, used to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. The actual implant is a small titanium post that grows into the jawbone over time.

Once the implant has fused with the jawbone, a post called an abutment is used to connect the dental prosthesis (replacement tooth) to the implant. The abutment can then be used to attach a new tooth, bridge, or denture. The tooth or teeth that were taken out and replaced look, feel, and work just like real teeth.
The process of getting dental implants takes a few months and a number of surgeries.

Your dentist will put a titanium post in your jawbone during the first surgery. After the implanted post has healed for a while, usually between 4 and 6 months, your dentist will attach an abutment to it so a replacement tooth or bridge can be put on it. Once your smile makeover is done, your dentist may make more changes, such as crowns, veneers, or dentures, depending on your wants.

The main benefit of dental implants is that when they are finished, they look and feel just like natural teeth. This gives you a smile that is both safe and looks good. Dental implants are also strong and last longer than other ways to replace missing teeth, like bridges and dentures.

Dental implants are a popular tooth replacement option that can last for decades with proper maintenance. Dental implants typically last between 8 and 10 years if you take good care of your teeth. However, with the right care, they can sometimes last much longer.

Proper oral hygiene is the most important factor in determining how long dental implants will last. This means brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing at least once a day, and going to the dentist regularly for cleanings and check-ups.

Following these steps will help ensure your dental implants stay healthy and provide you with a secure and aesthetically pleasing smile for many years. In addition to good oral hygiene practices, other factors such as smoking or clenching/grinding teeth can also decrease the longevity of a dental implant so it’s important to be mindful of any habits that could compromise your implant’s lifespan.

The success rate of getting a dental implant depends on many things, such as the patient’s overall health, their lifestyle, and the dentist’s experience. Studies have shown that dental implants typically have an impressive success rate ranging from 95-98%. This is due to technological advances combined with careful patient selection by dentists and surgeons before surgery.

In select cases where patients may not be suitable for implant surgery for medical or lifestyle reasons, alternative restorative treatments such as bridges or dentures may be recommended instead, depending on the best suited for their needs.

Dental implants are a common way to replace missing teeth, and they have many advantages over other dental prosthetics. The main benefit of dental implants is that when they are finished, they look and feel just like natural teeth. This gives you a smile that is both safe and looks good.

Another benefit of dental implants is that they don’t need as much care as bridges, which need special care and can get damaged if they aren’t cleaned properly. Dentures can move around when you talk or eat, so they need special glues to stay in place and regular adjustments to make sure they fit right. Because dental implants are put into the jawbone, so they don’t need any extra steps.

They work like real teeth and don’t need extra care beyond regular brushing and flossing.
Studies have shown that dental implants can last up to 10 years with good oral hygiene. However, they often last much longer with the right care and maintenance. Bridges, on the other hand, usually last between 5 and 15 years, while dentures may need to be replaced every 5 to 7 years, depending on how much wear and tear they get. Because of this, dental implants are the most durable way to fix broken or missing teeth.

When it comes to cost-effectiveness, getting dental implants may cost more upfront than other options like bridges or dentures, but they tend to cost less in the long run because they last longer. This means that in the long run, you get more for your money than if you had to replace a bridge or dentures several times over a few years.

One of the most important things to do is to take care of your teeth. This means using a soft-bristled toothbrush twice daily and flossing once daily. Also, use an antiseptic mouthwash daily to keep plaque from building up and lower your risk of infection. It’s also important to see your dentist regularly so they can check on your implant’s health and ensure it stays free of disease.

You shouldn’t smoke or use other tobacco products as these can make you more likely to get gum disease or other infections, which could cause your implant to fail. In the same way, you should be careful not to put too much pressure on your dental implants. Clenching and grinding your teeth are two habits that could cause damage over time, so it’s best to be aware of any habits that could hurt you.

Finally, it’s important to choose your dental implant provider carefully. Having an experienced professional do your procedure will help you get better results with fewer problems down the road. Ask plenty of questions about their experience, credentials and reputation before deciding.
Taking care of dental implants takes work, but with these tips, you can ensure they last for a long time and keep your smile looking great.

The most common risk of dental implant surgery is getting an infection at the implant site. This can happen if bacteria from the mouth gets into the wound during the procedure or if poor oral hygiene causes bacteria to grow afterwards. To lower this risk, your dentist will use antiseptics like chlorhexidine mouthwash during treatment, and they may also give you antibiotics to take after surgery.

Another possible complication is nerve damage; some nerves near the implant’s placement could become irritated or compressed by the titanium post inserted into your jawbone. This kind of injury can cause intense pain, numbness, and tingling in that area, so it’s important to tell your dentist immediately if any of these symptoms show up after your operation.
Excessive force on the implant when chewing may cause it to break. This is especially true if you did not wait long enough for osseointegration, which allows the jawbone to properly bond with the titanium post, before putting pressure on it. It is best to wait until your dentist gives you the green light before biting down too hard on anything with your implants.
Sinus problems can also happen when upper back molar implants are put in close to the maxillary sinuses. If bone tissue from these cavities is moved during installation, the mucosal lining could get infected, which could lead to sinusitis.
If you notice any of the above, get in touch with your dentist right away.
